FAT CONTENT AND THE BRAIN

by | Dec 13, 2018 | Brain, Excelify

Memory recall and nerve transmission in the brain are increased by the fat content in our brain.

Our brains are comprised mainly of fat.

The myelin sheath is a coating of fat around our nerves created by our glial cells.

The more fat around your nerves the faster the transmission of nerve signals, memory recall, and overall brain health.

If you have memory issues, the first thing I have seen work in the clinic are essential fatty acids EFA’s. With healthy ratio’s of Omega’s 3, 6, and 9.

EFA’s such as:

  • Fish Oils
  • Marine oils-plant or algae based
  • Plant oils-sunflower, almond, pumpkin seed, grape seed, etc.

Even if you have problems breaking down fats, you can always take a lipase enzyme to help break them down in your det.

Investigate your food sensitivities. For example, I take marine based EFA’s because I have a hard time breaking down certain fish oils. If you have sensitivities to certain nuts or fish you will want to avoid these oils in your EFA product.

The right EFA

  • Increase memory
  • Will increase mental stamina throughout day
  • Help focus and attention span
  • Improve your mood
  • Increase joint motion and stability

The wrong EFA

  • Causes belching, gas
  • Sour stomach
  • Diarrhea
  • Floating stool

Make sure you investigate the company, many of the oils on the market have turned rancid because of sitting on shelves too long or sitting in a warehouse.

If you have a fast paced life, you definitely need to check out good EFA’s in your diet!
