GUT STRENGTH: HOW A HEALTHY GUT IMPROVES THE BRAIN
Your Gut Affects Every Part of Life.
All human biological systems are linked to digestion. The nervous, immune, cardiovascular, lymphatic, pulmonary, myofascial, etc., all have direct link to what we eat.
Gut strength determines the strength of all other systems. Today I want to focus on the effects diet has on the brain. Better brain means better memory, faster processing, and BETTER MOOD.
The brain is made of lots of fats, water, and nerves. Your nerves are coated with fat, known as the myelin sheath. Healthy fats speed up the electrical signals that travel down our nerves. Faster signals mean quicker thinking, less brain fog, and enhanced memory. The nervous system is supported by healthy fats, i.e. avocado, coconut oil, almonds, healthy nuts, fish, poultry, bovine, bison, etc. If you already eat these…keep going!
Eating a diet high in healthy fats gives the basic foundation for a healthy nervous system. The ability of your body to process good fats into proper insulation to your brain, nerves, and overall nervous system is dependent on the health of the lining of your digestive tract. Can you absorb the fats and proper nutrients to feed brain tissue?
What can help create a healthy lining? Decreasing inflammation, which is accomplished by avoiding a few simple things:
– White/Processed Sugars
– Trans Fats/Bad Oils – non organic palm, safflower seed, corn, cottonseed, or any oil that isn’t from a clean source
– Grains – Wheat, Corn, Barley, and Malt
– Cow Dairy – check if you are allergic
Every person and body type is different, and not every person has a problem consuming these foods. However, as a general health rule, if you avoid these foods on the majority, you will reduce inflammation. This will allow your digestive tract to absorb the good fats, and feed them directly into your nerves.
For a healthy nervous system – Eat healthy fats, reduce bad sugars, bad grains, and inorganic cow dairy, and it will reduce inflammation.
